Wyeth Statement on The Lancet Article
Mumbai, Maharashtra, India, Monday, August 16, 2010 -- (Business Wire India) -- Wyeth denies reports in the media suggesting that it may have influenced a study on "Emergence of a new antibiotic resistance mechanism in India, Pakistan and the UK" published in the online edition of The Lancet Infectious Diseases on August 11, 2010.
The referenced article is a publication of independent research by a panel of international investigators also funded by Wellcome Trust and European Union to investigate molecular epidemiology of antibiotic resistance. This panel of investigators is the sponsor of this study. The article clearly acknowledges that funding agencies including Wyeth had no role in study design, data collection, data analysis, data interpretation or writing of the report.
